The first experimental activity called “Meet and Test Project” for Sex Workers in suburban areas has been held in Rome, Italy.
Almost 30 prostitutes/escorts were met during the activity, they were mostly from Nigeria, Brazil and Romania. Some quick tests were made. The project was warmly welcomed by most of the people we met on the streets. It was evidence of the general need of assistance and care, since they are not used to such attention, that’s why they appreciated our presence. Unfortunately 1/3 of them avoid the use of condoms due to the clients requests. These risk behaviors increase the need of health assistance and better knowledge of virus transmission.
